Adoptable Pets

All our animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and living in foster homes

Why Adopt from WCAHS?

When you adopt from a foster-based rescue, you're not just saving a life — you're getting a pet whose personality, habits, and quirks are already known.

Already Home-Tested

Our pets live in real homes with foster families. We know how they act with kids, other pets, and daily life — no shelter-behavior guessing.

You're Saving Two Lives

Every adoption opens a foster spot for another animal in need. Your one decision creates a ripple that saves more lives than you know.

Fully Vetted & Ready

Every pet comes spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and with a clean bill of health from our vet.

Ongoing Support

Our team doesn't disappear after adoption. We're here to answer questions, offer advice, and help you and your pet thrive together.

Affordable

Our adoption fees are well below the cost of vet work we put in. You get a healthy, vetted pet for a fraction of what it would cost on your own.

Fighting Puppy Mills

Every adoption is a stand against irresponsible breeding. You're choosing compassion over commerce and giving a deserving animal a home.

Are You Ready?

Adopting a pet is one of the most rewarding things you'll ever do — but it's also a real commitment. Ask yourself these questions honestly.

Can you afford a pet?

Beyond food, there's vet care, medications, grooming, and the unexpected emergency. A healthy pet can cost $500–$1,000+ per year in routine care alone.

Do you have enough time?

Dogs need daily walks, playtime, and training. Cats need interaction and enrichment. All pets need your attention and presence — not just a roof over their head.

Is your living situation stable?

Moving, roommate changes, and landlord restrictions are top reasons pets are surrendered. Make sure your housing allows pets and your situation is settled.

Is everyone in the household on board?

A pet is a family decision. Make sure everyone who lives with you is ready and willing — including understanding the responsibility involved.

Are you ready for a long-term commitment?

Dogs live 10–15 years, cats can live 15–20. This isn't a trial run. Your pet will depend on you through moves, life changes, and everything in between.

Do you have an emergency fund?

Accidents happen and animals get sick. An unexpected vet bill can run $1,000–$5,000. Having a financial safety net means your pet gets the care they need when it matters most.

Preparing for Your New Pet

A little preparation goes a long way. Here's your quick checklist.

Supplies to Have Ready

  • Food and water bowls
  • Age-appropriate food (we'll tell you what they eat)
  • Collar, leash, or harness
  • Crate or carrier
  • Bed or blankets
  • Litter box and litter (cats)
  • Toys and enrichment

First Week Tips

  • Give them a quiet space to decompress
  • Stick to a routine — meals, walks, bedtime
  • Introduce to other pets slowly and supervised
  • Schedule a vet visit within the first week
  • Be patient — the "3-3-3 rule" is real (3 days to decompress, 3 weeks to learn your routine, 3 months to feel at home)
  • Pet-proof your home — secure trash, hide cords, remove toxic plants

Barn Cat Program

Not every cat wants a lap to sit on. Our Barn Cat Program places community cats as working mousers — a natural, chemical-free pest control solution for farms, barns, warehouses, and rural properties.

  • Every cat is spayed/neutered with rabies & distemper vaccines
  • Minimum 2–3 cats per location (helps them settle in and stay)
  • You provide food, water, and basic shelter
  • Free-will donation ($25 per cat recommended)
